Bulk Import CSV Template For Backup Tasks (you might need this if you are a power user with a lot of websites to backup)
7Zip version 9.20 – For more robust backup file validation on Windows (not required on MAC) it’s recommended to download and install 7Zip version 9.20 (stable release) – Click through to the 7zip website.
This is an open source archiver like WinZIP or WinRAR which you can tell Backup Smart to use to thoroughly check your downloaded archives for any errors.
Please note: Later beta versions of 7zip after v9.20 are not compatible with some cPanel backup files, so just stick to the v9.20 stable release.
Manual Installation
- Download and install Adobe AIR via HARMAN (if not already installed) NOTE: For Windows users, you will need to install Adobe AIR as an administrator.
- download the .EXE install file from the Adobe site (note where you download it to on your disk)
- using Windows Explorer, locate the .EXE install file and right click it, the “Run as adminstrator”
(hopefully you know your admin password)
- Download and install the latest Backup Smart (Windows) or Backup Smart (MAC) release
Adobe Air will ask whether you wish to give Backup Smart the ability to access your system.
Backup Smart needs this access to:
- Connect to the internet in order to perform license check and of course access your websites to backup your data;
- Save the created scripts and the project files to your disk; and
- Automatically keep itself up to date;
Backup Smart does not use this access for anything other than the above functions.
